The Hobart Schools Triathlon Challenge (Bellerive Beach) will now be held on Thursday 1st December (Secondary Schools / Colleges grade 7 -12) and Friday 2nd December (Primary Schools grades 3-6). The event date had to be changed this year due to Cricket Australia’s scheduling of the South Africa vs Australia Test Match at Blundstone Arena in mid November. Schools have all been notified of this date change, but please pass this information on to anyone you know would be interested. It would also be a good idea to “like” the Schools Triathlon Challenge Facebook page as I use this as a way of getting information out about the event.
Chris Williams is a cyclist riding for world tour team Novo Nordisk. Chris rides with Diabetes and came down to Tasmania for the STC events 2 years ago to help inspire and encourage our students. We wish him all the best at the Herald Sun Tour and the rest of this years world tour. Chris handed out finishers hats to all our finishers and is definitely inspiring others to reach their goals regardless of the challenges they face. Well, what an amazing year it was, with final number now in we had 4858 students take on the STC at either Hobart or Devonport and an amazing 138 schools statewide involved. What a great result and even better that nearly 5000 students staewide have been involved in an event totally focussed on having a go, taking on a personal challenge, enjoying physical activity and having fun with friends. I would like to thank all the School communities that support this event, Principals, teachers, parents, volunteers, marshals, sponsors and service providers. Together we are all making a positive difference to the health and lifestyles of our next generation. Have a great xmas and I hope to see you all again in 2016. Tim Smith STC Organiser 🙂
